Meet Our Donors
Through her time at NDA, Beverly Domalski, discovered a strong passion for the Arts, so much so, that she dedicated her whole life to sharing it with as many people as possible. Her senior year, Beverly, along with five of her classmates in the Class of 1948 (Joanne Seidel, Mary Frances Dolan, Mary Ann Mermer, Dorothy Mescher, and Patricia Flint), created a masterpiece of a painting appropriately titled, “Through Him, With Him and In Him.” Under the direction of their teacher, Sr. Mary Genevra, SND, their intent was to portray the essence of the Catholic Christian life in all it’s dimensions.
The accompanying plaque aptly describes the intricacies included in the colorful and detailed mural that goes 12 ft. long and 38 in. tall. An excerpt reads,
“Central to the mural is the Mass celebrated by the priest at the alter. Two processions move toward the altar with families bearing varied gifts. Representatives of the Sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation bracket the alter with many depictions of the Sacraments being lived in the lives of people. Various saints hover above the altar sharing in the sacred moment.
Directly below the altar is a depiction of family life, central to Christian life. From left to right are representations of the various charitable ministries to which all believers are called. The Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary on their respective sides of the mural symbolize God’s love welcoming us to their world and ours.”
The beautiful mural is displayed prominently to this day in the hallway between our prayer garden going towards the chapel. Our students pass by it every day on the way to the chapel, and the often gaze and reflect on the meaning in all of the details, just as Bev would have wanted.
After graduating from NDA, Beverly went on to earn a graduate degree in studio art, and began a long career in education, teaching in and directing art programs for Toledo Public School, and the Diocese of Toledo. She taught art workshops at the Toledo Museum of Art, Toledo Botanical Gardens, the University of Toledo and Lourdes University. She was known for her selfless energy and compassion to help others, and her lifelong work to spread a love and appreciation of the arts to all she encountered.
Beverly always held NDA closely to her heart, and stayed active and in touch with NDA over the years. She became one of NDA’s biggest supporters, staying actively connected and involved, and contributing to scholarship aid regularly and generously, for those in need to attend NDA. In the years before her recent passing, she had informed NDA that she had made provisions in her estate to provide a gift to help support NDA’s mission and future. In doing so, NDA was able to honor her as a member of The Sunflower Society before she passed, the highest recognized level of donors, for those who have made plans for a gift in their will for NDA.
Upon her passing in April of 2021, The Beverly Ann Domalski ’48 Endowed Scholarship was created thanks to her planned gift, and will be assisting with financial aid for students to attend NDA, in perpetuity. Beverly’s memory and legacy lives on through new students living through their own NDA journey. And as they walk towards the chapel, and gaze up at the beautiful art work graced to our school by Beverly and her classmates, may they be reminded that they are able to do so Through Him, With Him and In Him, as their art truly reminds us.
If you or your loved one have named NDA in your estate plans, or are interested in doing so, we would love to welcome you into The NDA Sunflower Society. For more information, on how you can make an impact for NDA students and our mission through a Planned Gift, please reach out to
