Meet Our Donors
When Dr. Mary Pat Borgess ’69 graduated from Notre Dame Academy, she began her career journey in medicine, specializing in radiology and taking the lead on delivery of breast cancer care.
Mary Pat earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Toledo, and entered the Ohio State College of Medicine. She completed her internship in surgery before returning to Ohio State for radiology training.
She then accepted an offer from Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, where she practiced for 44 years. “I led the development of a first-class breast imaging program at Riverside, and loved every minute,” she shares. Mary Pat retired from practice in 2020 but remains active as chairperson of the Institutional Review Board at Ohio Health, an organization that reviews research from a patient protection and ethical standpoint.
She attributes her passion for her calling to the compassion, curiosity, and faith that the Sisters of Notre Dame instilled in her.
Along with her husband, Mary Pat has made plans to pay it forward through an estate plan gift so other young women can follow their dreams. “I was able to do so much because of Notre Dame Academy. We knew we wanted NDA to be able to continue to provide opportunities for the next generation.”
Have you made plans to support NDA through a charitable contribution in your estate plan? If so, we would like to honor you as a member of the NDA Sunflower Society.
